Wow. That is the best so far for the series. The color palette is gorgeous.

ReplyDeleteI'm really happy with the Barclay covers. We used the weapon illustrations that Sam Hadley did in the UK, but we changed the backgrounds (as well as the fonts/layout) and we used shots we took ourselves of actual stone walls as texture. It was a lot of fun to do and I love the results.
Season after this I am working for the first time with an artist named Benjamin Carre that I am really blown away by too. Another guy like Sparth and Martiniere who works in concept design for games.

ReplyDeleteYou have made my day! That is a GORGEOUS colour palette! And that cover is now one of my Top 5 Martiniere covers! I want it in a medium size print!
And the title, both its type and the colour used as the background, is perfect.
The bad news? February 2010!!!!!! That's 10 months! I hope it will be a hardback - Edelman deserves it, and I for one would be happy to pay for it.

ReplyDeleteYeah, I can see the reasoning behind that, & I have to agree with you. They did to Sean Williams' blood series - the first two are trade & the third is a hardback. Presumably the fourth will be a hardback also.
ReplyDeleteIt is a gorgeous cover. In addition to the colour palette, I like the way the light moves from the lower lefthand corner up to the upper righthand corner. And there's a reddish-rose colour to the left of the figure and just above it that I wish I knew the RGB/CMYK for.
